Ribbon has been cut and Melonpalooza 2025 is now underway at Fair Park
The 49th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival is now open, as Mayor Don Still, Hope-Hempstead Chamber of Commerce Director Christy Burns, several Miss Watermelon beauty queens and other town leaders can attest.  They cut ribbon just in front of the Coliseum stage at the minute of noon Thursday.

Still said, “It’s a great festival.  The city looks great.  Everybody, the kids, have fun.”

Then snip went the ceremonial scissors and Melonpalooza 2025 is now underway.

After the ceremony, we asked Miss Watermelon 2025, Raylee Lynn Adkison about her thoughts on winning the title at Tuesday night’s pageant.

“I was very excited to win.  It was my first pageant, so it was really a shocker … I’m really excited to be here this weekend.”

Adkison is a sophomore at Spring Hill High School and for now is considering going to college for a profession in the medical field.
