FAYETTEVILLE -- Rohan Jones was one of the top tight ends available in the transfer portal when he opted to leave Montana State.
He was a first-team FCS Central All-America last season after catching 30 passes for 470 yards and nine touchdowns. At Arkansas this season, he has caught three passes for 95 yards and one touchdown. The Razorbacks were excellent on offense this past Saturday in a 41-35 loss to Ole Miss.
"Like you said, it was a very fun game," Jones said. "It was a cool environment. But I mean, whether it be an SEC game or our first home game against Alabama A&M or even Arkansas State game, I think once you get up on that field, it's just football. So, it was definitely a cool experience, but just get the job done."
Jones and the Razorbacks travel to Memphis this week to face the undefeated Tigers. Jones has watched film of the opponent.
"I mean, like you just said, it's a very versatile defense," Jones said. "They have a lot of different shifts and motions upfront with their front. And they play with a three-high scheme in the back and do a lot of different stuff from other teams. So, for us, we'll just be sticking to what we do well and sticking to our offense, what works for us, and just try to keep it rolling."
Jones talked about how the Hogs can have success offensively against Memphis.
"I think, like any offense, we have to establish the run game early and then capitalize off of the run game," Jones said. "Just get Taylen passing the ball deep, doing what he does. I think, just stick to the usual. I feel like our offense, we stick to the basics and we do what we’re good at, so just keep that rolling."
Jones has been impressed with quarterback Taylen Green who is putting up big numbers this season.
"I think he's just a great leader for our offense," Jones said. "I feel like on the field, off the field, he's just like a person that brings joy and happiness and he's very positive, so he brings that same mindset to the field. He keeps the guys up, and he really leads us in the right direction. I mean, like he's the heartbeat of our offense, and he keeps us going."
Jones also was asked what the locker room has been like this week after the first loss of the season?
"I don't think anything's changed," Jones said. "I feel like we're still positive. We know it was a hiccup along the road, but we just got to keep playing it one week at a time, and just keep striving."
The Razorbacks will be at Memphis on Saturday for an 11 a.m. kickoff on ABC.
