Rotary President Bren Yocom opened the program by welcoming guests and introducing Steve Lance, who delivered the evening’s prayer. Attendees then stood together for the Pledge of Allegiance before making their way to enjoy the catered meal.

Dinner featured chicken bites, steak bites, twice-baked potatoes, steamed vegetables, salad, and cheesecake drizzled with chocolate and strawberry, catered by Amigo Juan’s.

After dinner, Yocom returned to the podium to highlight the purpose of the event: honoring the Officers of the Year from four agencies that play essential roles in the safety and wellbeing of Hempstead County.

“Service, sacrifice, and commitment deserve recognition,” Yocom said. “Tonight is our opportunity to say thank you—not only to the officers being honored, but to all who wear the badge and faithfully protect our families, our homes, and our community.”

Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff James Singleton presented the 2024 Deputy of the Year award to Turner Reed, sharing remarks about Reed’s dedication and service.

Hope Police Department

Lieutenant Jesus Coronado introduced and presented the Hope Police Department Officer of the Year to Corporal Byanca Velazquez-Loe, commending her strong work ethic and impact on the department.

Arkansas State Police

Lieutenant Jaime Gravier presented the 2025 State Trooper of the Year award to Trooper First Class Justin Cherry and Special Agent David Fielding, recognizing both for their exceptional service. 

Arkansas Game & Fish Commission

Sergeant John Cowart introduced the 2025 Wildlife Officer of the Year, Tanner Mills, recognizing his outstanding work in conservation and enforcement.

Yocom concluded the evening by expressing heartfelt appreciation to all officers, deputies, troopers, agents, and wildlife officers in attendance. “The sacrifices you and your families make each day do not go unnoticed. This banquet is just a small token of our gratitude,” Yocom said. 

The program closed with the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.
