The event was held to provide seniors with the chance to experience a celebration usually reserved for a few student-athletes.
The seniors, most of whom wore t-shirts signifying their next destinations, signed documents at tables that had been laid on the gym floor as Bobcat freshmen through sophomores and family members looked on. Also included in the crowd were school staffers and representatives from many of the schools Hope graduates will be attending.
The occasion, advertised as Senior Pathway Signing Day, was the first of its kind at Hope High.
As the ceremony closed, Hope High Principal Kim Dunham said, “As we wrap up our inaugural pathway celebration, take a look around at your peers, freshmen, sophomores, juniors. Take a look at these seniors. This is going to be you, and this is what you need to aspire to. Seniors, you have set the bar for us, and one of our goals and part of our vision is being a school of excellence, elevation and engagement, and this day helps us realize our vision.”
