Hope, AR – September 18, 2025  

Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center (SWARMC) is proud to announce two major milestones in its mission to provide quality healthcare close to home.

The hospital has officially been designated as a Critical Access Hospital by federal regulators, ensuring greater support and sustainability for delivering essential healthcare services to the residents of Southwest Arkansas. This designation strengthens SWARMC’s ability to continue serving patients with high-quality, accessible care while securing important resources for the future.

In addition, SWARMC has reopened the main floor of the hospital, unveiling a revitalized Primary Care Unit with the implementation of a new Swing Bed Unit. This development expands services, improves patient flow, and represents the hospital’s ongoing investment in meeting the healthcare needs of the community.

“These advancements mark an exciting new chapter for SWARMC,” said Cindy Carmichael, Chief Executive Officer of SWARMC. “Becoming a Critical Access Hospital and opening our new Primary Care and SWB Units demonstrate our commitment to providing expert care while staying rooted in hometown values.”

To celebrate this achievement, SWARMC hosted an internal ribbon-cutting ceremony with hospital staff and leadership, honoring the dedication of team members who made these accomplishments possible. As SWARMC approaches its one-year anniversary of serving the region under its new name, these milestones highlight the hospital’s progress and dedication to ensuring the best possible care for the community it calls home.
