Hope, Arkansas – June 24, 2026 – It’s time to pucker up and launch some seeds! The always-entertaining Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest is back at the 50th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival – Golden Jubilee Celebration, and it’s open to all ages.
This fun and fiercely competitive event will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. on the Hope Public Schools Stage at Hope Fair Park.
Participants will compete in three age divisions, with 1st through 3rd place prizes awarded in each. One competitor will be crowned the Grand Champion for the longest spit of the day!
“This is one of those uniquely Hope traditions that brings out plenty of laughs and friendly competition,” said Christy Burns, Executive Director of the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce. “Whether you're young or young at heart, everyone is invited to join in the fun during our Golden Jubilee celebration.”
This free event is a festival favorite and full of laughs—so whether you're competing or cheering from the crowd, it’s a must-see part of Saturday’s festivities.
