As an essential part of Prescott’s public services, the Street Department carries a wide array of responsibilities that ensure the city’s infrastructure remains functional and safe. This team works attentively within the 6.4 square miles of Prescott city limits, constantly addressing issues that impact residents. Among their crucial tasks, the crew is responsible for patching potholes, a vital function in maintaining smooth and safe roadways for daily commutes.

They also undertake the important work of tearing down dilapidated houses, contributing to urban renewal and safety. Improving the city’s drainage is another of their key roles, achieved by changing out drain covers and ensuring water flows properly, especially during inclement weather. Furthermore, the Street Department assists the Sanitation Department with hauling limbs, and they even lend a hand to Animal Control when needed. These diverse tasks are critical not only for public safety but also for the aesthetic appeal and smooth operation of the city.
