FAYETTEVILLE -- The first day of preseason football at Arkansas is nearing on Aug. 1.
Recently Sam Pittman and three players attended the SEC Media Days in Atlanta. While that trio was selected here's a look at three more Razorbacks who could make just as big an impact this season for the Hogs.
Fernando Carmona, Left Guard
It's Carmona who is on all the preseason lists that forecast the All-SEC and other selections. Carmona showed he is very unselfish when after starting at left tackle all last season making the move to left guard this season. It's believed that guard will be his position in the NFL, but still willing to move out of left tackle shows he's putting the team ahead of himself. In the day of NIL and transfer portal that isn't always the case.
Corey Robinson II, Left Tackle
Robinson transferred to Arkansas from Georgia Tech at midterm. Robinson will take over at left tackle for Carmona. While Robinson isn't on the preseason lists he may very well be after the season. He's expected to provide a great one-two punch on the left side of the offensive line with Carmona. Observers at spring practice raved about Robinson's ability. One to definitely keep an eye on this season.
Braylen Russell, Running Back
The sophomore burst onto the scene last season with big games against both Tennessee and Mississippi State. Gone is leading rusher Ja'Quinden Jackson so the path for Russell to get more extended action. In 2024, Russell rushed 67 times for 354 yards and three touchdowns. He caught three passes for 18 yards. Russell was third overall in rushing in 2024 behind Jackson and Taylen Green. In the 19-14 win over Tennessee, Russell topped the Hogs with eight carries for 62 yards. He also led the Razorbacks in rushing in a 58-25 win over Mississippi State. Russell carried 16 times for 75 yards. He had a reception for 11 more yards. He was a 4-star recruit at Benton High School and offered by schools all over the nation.
