Wind gusts, hail expected in central Hempstead County
Special Weather Statement issued August 20 at 9:18PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA

At 918 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Blevins, or 9 miles north of Hope, moving southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Hope, Prescott, Emmet, Blevins, Perrytown, Washington, McCaskill,
Ozan, Oakhaven, Sutton, Laneburg and Boughton.

Instructions

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
