Johnye Mae Reed Milus was born Saturday, September 29, 1923 to Sim and Elizabeth Reed in Lisbon, Louisiana. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.
During her lifetime, she enjoyed the fellowship of many who called her “Momma” or “Momma Johnye”. In her younger years, she loved quilting and tending to her flower gardens. She also loved solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles and attending church and Bible Study. She was an exceptional cook. Many family members have tried to duplicate her hot water cornbread and tea cakes but have failed.
At the age of ninety-two, when asked what advice she would leave for family members. Her response was, “to go to church even if you have to walk or catch a ride, and to get an education”.
Mrs. Milus was predeceased in death by her husband of 44 years, Crawford “Booker” Milus; her daughter, Elizabeth Graves; and her eleven siblings Leslie, Charlsie, Roxie, Exie, Zadie, Jefferson, William, Dock, London, Grady and Joseph; and her great-grandson, Dralyn.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Alvin (Valerie) of Hope, and her two daughters, Bobbie (Carson) of Pine Bluff and Janice Milus of Hope, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
