‘Just Us Girls’ brings Tuesday fun to cancer awareness

Wadley celebrates five years of keynote event in Hope

A steady flow of traffic converged in the lobby of Wadley Regional Medical Center on Tuesday night for the fifth edition of the ‘Just Us Girls’ event. Instead of patients and wheelchairs, the hospital lobby area was filled with vendors, food, and fun.
Having done a similar event at Wadley Texarkana for nearly a decade, Wadley Marketing Director Shelby Brown said ‘Just Us Girls’ has been in Hope now for five years.
“It is a fun event to promote cancer awareness and show the hospital is not a scary place to be,” Brown said.
An estimated 90 women had passed in and out of the event through the evening, and Brown added that seven mammograms had been done on the spot Tuesday evening.
Earlier in the evening a raffle fundraiser had been done for Shannon Gerth of Hope, a recent cancer survivor who is also a Wadley employee. Brown, herself, is also a cancer survivor as is Tracie Brewser, another Wadley employee from Emmet.
Brown also touted the event’s many vendors, who she says adds shopping and a relaxed atmosphere Tuesday. The front lobby, adjacent hallway, and even the board room had vendor stations set up.
This year’s vendors included: Crosses and Quotes (Sherry Evans), Be-Dazzled Boutique (Patricia Rhoads), Sweet T’s Boutique (Trenace Stuart), Unraveled Boutique (Anna Powell), Pampered Chef (Valerie Fish), DoTerra Essential Oils (Lauren Allen), Tupperware (Jolene Lockhart), Scentsy (Teresa Kruger), Crochet Treasures (Rhonda Morrow), Plunder Design Jewelry (Krissie Talley), Dillard’s (Sheri Saddler), Log Cabin Soapery (Sue Nesom), Lasting Impressions (Tracy Talley), Avon (Tiffany Davis), Majestic Earware (Marla Jones), Nurture Bath and Body (Tessah Singleton), and Grace and Heart Jewelry (Shirley Cowan).
