Louise Bennett age 95 of Severna Park, Maryland, Formerly of Hope, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019. She was born on November 19th, 1923 to Harley and Agnes Williams. They lived in Hancock, New York where Harley was the owner of a wood turning factory. She was followed 13 months latter by her sister, Janice who now lives in Florida. Louise attended Albany State University for her undergraduate work and Cornell University for her graduate work. She married George Hubert of Moravia, N Y and moved to Auburn, N Y where they started a family. First was Greg then Susan and finally Sandy. In 1970 the family broke up and Louise moved to Ithaca, N Y. She soon met Roger Bennett, a local business man. They first lived in Ithaca then retired to build their own home with their own hands in Lynchburg, Va. When Roger’s health began to decline they moved to Hope Arkansas to be close to Roger’s family. After the death of Roger, Louise moved to Maryland to be close to her son, Greg and his wife Judy.
Louise was a woman of many talents. She was a musician who played the flute, piano and organ. She worked as a church organist and choir director several times throughout her life. Wherever she went she joined a local church and became active in it. At one time she was employed by the Congregational Church to travel throughout New York teaching local churches in how to present the message of the Bible to youth. For several years Louise was an editor at Chronicle Guidance Publications. She was a painter of watercolors and a designer of various wood products that were built by Roger. The two of them made the rounds of craft shows selling their creations. In Lynchburg she worked as an administrator in a sheltered workshop.
Louise lived a full life of 95 years and will be missed by many people in many communities. She is survived by her sister, Janice Reynolds, son Greg Hubert, daughter Susan Branch and daughter Sandra Dutton. There are three grandchildren, Sean, Keli and Michael. In addition, she is survived by her two step sons Russ and Dale and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
