Lubie Jean Nelson

Lubie Jean Nelson was born June 11, 1935 in Ozan, Arkansas to Minnie Johnson and William Ed Johnson. She departed this life on March 18, 2019 at Wadley Medical Center in Hope.
She grew up in the Ozan Community and attended school at Lincoln High School in Washington, Arkansas. She worked at Tyson for several years. She later worked at Champion Parts, where she retired.
She received Christ in 1955, under the leadership of the late Nathaniel Marks. She united with Ervin Nelson, Sr. in 1960 to this union two sons were born.
She leaves to cherish her husband, Ervin Nelson, Sr.; one daughter, Wilma (Charles) Jackson of Hope; two sons, Ervin Jr. (Aretha) Nelson and Donald Ray Nelson all of Hope; four grandchildren, Latonya (Jimmy) Gozalla of Washington, AR, Donald Ray Nelson, Jr. of Hope, Darron Armstrong of Hope; one preceded her in death, Anthony Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Thomas, Jr., Kierra of Texarkana, Mariah and Darron Jr. both of Hope; special daughters, Kenyetta Burton of Texarkana; Diane Marshall of Nashville; one sister, Flossie Johnson of Hope; six sisters-in-law, Shirlene (Melvin) Jackson, Yvonne, Vanessa, Felisha, Ethel, Lena (Charles) Bobo; three brothers-in-law, James, Eugene, Daryl; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be 11-5pm, family hour 5-6pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 3pm Saturday, March 30 at Roadside Church of God in Christ. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery in Ozan. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
