Lula Jean Milus

On December 10, 2019, the sweet spirit of our dear sister, Lula Jean Milus, went to join the Saviour in the home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God.
Lula was born on August 30, 1941 to Isaac and Augusta Milus in Hope, Arkansas. Lula was the third eldest of eight children. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Thomas, Billy, Oscar, and Jimmy Milus.
At an early age, she confessed a hope in Christ and joined Rising Star Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas and later reaffirmed her faith in Christ and became a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Patmos, Arkansas
Lula graduated from Yerger High School in Hope, Arkansas in 1960 as Valedictorian of her class. She attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1964 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She began a teaching career in the Hamburg Independent School District. In 1973-1974 she was selected as the Top Teacher and Friend of the Year. In 1974 she received a Master of Science in Education Degree. After retirement she relocated to Hope, Arkansas. She was a lifetime member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Lula leaves to cherish her memories: Sisters Brenda Thomas (Jeffrey) of Red Oak, Texas and Bessie Reeves of Atoka, Tennessee; brother Eddie Milus of Hope, Arkansas, a very special nephew, Marcus Reedy (Roshanda); and several nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Visitation will be 1:30-4, family visitation 4-5pm Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:30 Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 3576 Highway 278 West, Hope. Burial will be at Scott’s Memorial Gardens in Perrytown.
