Maple Jean Taylor Swift

Maple Jean Taylor Swift, 74, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas, with her children fiancé, grandchildren, sisters and brothers by her bedside.
On July 19, 1944, she was born to R.C. Taylor, Sr. and Florine Walker Taylor. She was the oldest of 10 children.
She united in holy matrimony with Leroy Swift, Sr. in 1960, to this union two children were born.
Maple went by many names, Mama, Mama Maple, Baby Sister, Sis, Granny, Granny Maple, Aunt Bae, Sister-in-law, Aunt Maple and Baby Doll. She loved to cook and have family gatherings. She also loved her flowers, having yard sales, fishing and collecting stuff. She joined St. Mark CME Church at an early age and later joined St. Peter CME in Ozan, Arkansas.
Maple received her education at Lincoln High School. She later returned to Lincoln, where she worked as a Teacher’s Aide and a cook. She also worked at the Old Washington State Park, Washington, Arkansas and as a baby sitter in the community.
Preceding her in death are her parents, R.C. Sr. and Florine Taylor; father of her children, Leroy Swift, Sr. and stepson, Willie Ray Johnson Swift.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved children, Leroy Swift Jr. (Hazel) and Stacie Marie Swift Dean; her fiancé and life long partner, George E. Henry, Sr.; five special grandchildren, Latitia Madlock, KaShunda Swift, Orlando Swift (Dena), Ty’Stacia Dean and Willie “Dude” Gilliam; two special great-grandchildren, Olivia Speech and Omari Furlow; 11 grandchildren and many great-grands; her siblings, Leonard Taylor (Elsie) of Ozan, AR, Carolyn Taylor (John) of Gary, IN, R.C. Taylor, Jr. (Marie), Lancie Taylor of Ozan, AR, Stanley Taylor of Hope, AR, Audrey Taylor, Sharon Craven, Vanessa Swift (Jerry) and Gwendolyn Stewart (Lamarr) of Ozan, AR; a special cousin/like a sister, Betty Ruth (Walker) Jordan and lifelong special friend, Bonnie Mae Wiley.
Viewing will be 11am-5pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Maranatha Baptist Church, Nashville, AR. Burial will be at St. Luke Gamble Cemetery in Ozan. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
