Mary Lou Kaufman, age 67, of Hope, AR passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at her home in Hope, AR surrounded by those she loved.

Mary Lou, as a nurse of 30 years, dedicated her life to the service of others.  Even after retirement from Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center-Split Rail, she felt the calling to continue helping others, returning part time to Split Rail and Hope Haven Retirement Home.  She considered her patients and clients her second family.

Mary Lou loved to read and debate current events, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face.  She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, always thinking of others first.  “To know her was to love her.”

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Jeanne Critchfield and her sister Patricia Critchfield.  Mary Lou leaves to cherish her loving memory her children; Daniel Drew Kaufman and Brighton of Hope. AR and Christopher Adam Kaufman and his wife Tiffany of Arizona, her grandson, Ben Kaufman, her sister and closest friend, Sharon Reisen, her brother, Michael Critchfield, her longtime friend Darlene Poole, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou wanted others to remember her life and great memories and as such she requested to not have a formal funeral service.  She wished that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the non-profit mental health center, Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center-Split Rail, Client Activities, to benefit her second home and family, and to which she dedicated more than 25 wonderful years.
