Minnie Ann Dixon long-time resident of Carson, California area,was born the 26th day of April, 1936 in Corinth, Arkansas. Her sunset was Friday the 29th of March, 2019 in Tollette Arkansas.
Minnie graduated from Howard County High School in Tollette, Arkansas. She continued her education at the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff Arkansas. She worked various positions until retirement.
She loved cooking good food and socializing, enjoyed reading books on history, and astrology. Her best time was shared by teaching, sharing information and passing ideas. Her favorite conversations were based on the stars, solar system and the magic of astrology. To give her peace of mind she loved sewing, arts & crafts. She made her own garments and customized jewelry by hand. Some of her favorite sewing material colors were yellow, gold and red. Minnie amazing cooking specialty were tea cakes, hot water cornbread, egg custard pie, candy yams, and rice pudding. Minnie lived a life in discovering Knowledge, Wisdom and Understandings. Her hearts passion was to discover what lies on the other side of the sun.
Her Life Style growing up was very adventurous and outgoing. She loved to dance and bop to the beat. She enjoyed celebrations with family and friends. People would say she had such a beautiful smile to light up the entire room. Her great friend and Former Spouse James A. Kountz shared great memories together and raised a family from Denver Colorado to Los Angeles California. They enjoyed some great times traveling on the road and making sure the entire family was well taken cared of.
In most recent years Minnie lived in Maryland were her brother Leautry, who looked after her along with her close family, friends, son & daughter (Michael and Perry). One thing about Minnie if you called her be ready to spend a couple hours on the phone talking about life, laughing out loud and chatting about the good times. We will always remember her voice, love, spirit and her ability to make you feel good.
Minnie is preceded in death by one daughter, Roslin Yvette Davis-Gray; Parents: John and Sarah Dixon. Sister: Johnnie Dixon-Marshall, Brothers: Oliver Dixon, Charlie Dixon, Former Husband: Paul J. Davis. All of whom brought great joy to her later years. Now she leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Minnie is survived by her Son Michael Dern Davis (June Davis) (Denver Colorado) and Her Daughter Perry L. Daniel (Riverside California); Grandchildren: Deanyale Tinikya Cooper, Edward DeWayne Cooper Jr. (Lauren Bombay Cooper) , Tiffany Anna Maria Daniel Jones (Markell Jones), Nicole Gray, Donovan Gray Jr., Joshua Gray, Michael Dern Davis Jr. , Amanda Davis, Brendan B.J. Davis; Great-Grandchildren: Essence Gray, Tyler Elizabeth Ann-Perrie Cooper, Journey Laila Cooper, Aunjel Jones, Jordan Jones, King Cooper, Jackson Cooper, Kalijah Harkness Kowyn, Aryna Gray, Donovan Gray III, Jordan Davis, Aja Davis, Keamdre Davis; Great-Great Grandchild: Ma’at Mahonnali Reynolds; brothers and sisters. Thell Dixon (Tollette Arkansas), Lode Dixon (Denver Colorado), John W. Dixon (Texarkana Arkansas), Margarette Dixon (Dallas Texas) Joyce Dixon (Chicago Illinois), Lee Leatury Dixon (Tollette Arkansas) Donza Beth Dixon (Tollette Arkansas), Earl Dixon (Prescott Arkansas), and several family members which include: Cousin, Nephews, Nieces, close friends, and her former Spouse James A. Kountz.
Visitation will be 10am-5pm Friday at the funeral home. She will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church. A funeral service will be 2:30 Saturday, April 6 at First Church of God. Burial will be at Crofton Cemetery in Tollette. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
