Mother and Daughter Injured in Crash

A Hope woman and her teenage daughter were transported to the hospital Sunday following a two-car crash on East 6th St. at Laurel St.

According to witnesses, Theresa Ricks , of Hope, and her 14-year-old daughter were traveling east on 6th St. in a white Nissan Maxima when a tan northbound Nissan Maxima, driven by Brianna Martin, failed to come to a stop at the intersection of 6th and Laurel and struck Ricks’ car in the passenger side. The impact spun Ricks’ Maxima around 180° causing it to face west when it came to a stop.

Hope Police Department, Hope Fire Department and Pafford EMS were dispatched to scene. Officers closed down traffic while firefighters and EMS worked on getting Ricks and her daughter out of the car. The impact jammed the door so firefighters used the jaws of life to force it open to get Ricks’ daughter out.

Ricks and her daughter were moved on to cots and carried to separate ambulances. Both were transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope.
