Alita Cheryl Nivens Sams passed from this life to eternal rest on April 16, 2020, in Prescott, AR. She was born the youngest of fourteen children to Ruff and Lillie Belle Loe Nivens on December 21, 1957 in Prescott, AR. She was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a former Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and Director and drove a school bus for Blevins School District for 21 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Donita Salisbury of Hope, AR, Linda Ann Hill of Avinger, TX, and Nina Beth Thompson of Prescott, AR; six brothers, Carroll Nivens of Prescott, AR, Lyle Nivens of Avinger, TX, Wayne Nivens of Hope, AR, Keith Nivens, James Nivens, and John Nivens, all of Prescott, AR; two nieces, Linda Kay Sheets and Donna Salisbury, two nephews, Billy Don Barnes and Lew Gibson.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Carl Sams; one son, Neal Sams (Jana) of Liberty, TX; one daughter, Amber King (Corey) Baytown, TX; three grandsons, Jaxon Sams, Hank Sams, and Anderson King; one sister, Nelle Gibson (Marlin) of Longview, TX, three brothers, Kenneth Nivens (Sandra), Leon Nivens (Nelda), and Harold Nivens, all of Prescott, AR; two sisters-in law Peggy Nivens of Hope, AR and Linda Nivens of Blevins, AR; sixteen nieces and sixteen nephews, many great nieces and nephews and many great-grand nieces and nephews, who loved their “Aunt Alita”.

Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2020 at Sweet Home Cemetery in Blevins, AR. Bro. Donald Thompson and Bro. Ed Woods will be officiating under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home Hope.
