Anne L. Ward

Anne L. Barbaree Ward died at Keller Oaks Health Center, Keller Texas, on February 4, 2020, after a long illness. She was 102 years of age. She is preceded in death by her parents, W. A. and Alma Cox Barbaree, and her siblings, D.A. and Royce Barbaree, Glen Dale Barbaree and Ione Philyaw. Two sisters died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by her son, Don F. Roberts and son-in-law Billy Q. Brown.

Anne was born in Bodcaw, Arkansas, and graduated from high school there. She was active in school events and served on the pep squad, cheering the basketball team of her sister. Anne also enjoyed singing in the choir and continued to do so at church through time, even in the Senior adult choir.

Anne was active in her beloved church, Ingleside Baptist in Shreveport, LA, where she taught a women’s Sunday school class for 22 years. She was always among those present with a dish of food when there was a need by the membership of the church, and also available to help in other ways whenever she could.

Anne leaves two living children, Darlene Brown of Fort Worth, TX, and Barbara Moses and husband, Thomas of Diana, TX. She also leaves seven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to nephews and their spouses Ron and Mary Robins, and Phil and Karen Barbaree; also, niece, Tonya Lynn and Husband Tim Walston. They were all so faithful in remembering Mom continually and on special holidays throughout these years.

Chapel service will be held at noon, Friday, February 7, 2020 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home Hope. Interment in Shover Springs Cemetery with Bro. Eric Barbaree officiating under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
