Charles Edward Smith

Charles Edward Smith was born to the parentage of H.C. and Arnett Smith in Monroe, Louisiana on January 13, 1948.

He was called home on August 18, 2020, while resting at home.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Faye Smith; daughter, Keller Nicole Smith; his grandparents, Wesley and Lillie Spearman; his parents, H.C. and Arnett Smith; one brother, Hosie Smith and one sister, Ethel Vickers.

He was united in marriage to Gwendolyn Faye Bosh on December 20, 1977 in Dallas, Texas, to this union they had three children.  He attended Roosevelt High School in Dallas, Texas.  He ran his own business S&S Installation for 30 years installing flooring.  He was a dedicated and loving Pastor for 40 years at New Testament House of Prayer until God called him home.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons; Charles D. Smith (Carol), Christopher E. Smith (Lola), and Michael F. Smith (LaKeisha); three brothers, Isaac Smith, Hayes Smith, Jr., and Leon Smith; one sister, Vera McNeal (Mark); nine grandchildren, Xavier, Precious, Joshua, Zikeus, Dorian, Keller, Aaryn, Aydan, Micah, and McKenzie; one great-granddaughter, Aaliyah.  He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and church family.

A wake will be held 5-6pm Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, August 22 at New Testament House of Prayer, 306 North Ferguson, Hope.  Burial will be at Westmoreland Cemetery in Fulton.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
