Cleonia Turner

On the morning of May 23, 2026, the family chain was once again broken, and the missing link became Mrs. Cleonia Turner. At the age of 86, in Texarkana, Texas, she gained her angel wings and will remain in our hearts forever.

A beautiful baby girl named Cleonia Marie Smith was born to the late Mr. William Oliver Smith and the late Mrs. Jewerlean Beasley-Smith on November 2, 1939, in Miller County, Arkansas. Cleonia began her education at Mandeville Elementary School in Mandeville, AR, and later attended Washington High School through the seventh grade. Her family then moved to Fulton, AR, where she enrolled at Henry Clay Yerger High School in Hope, AR, graduating with the Class of 1962.

As life continued to blossom for Cleonia, she met and married Mr. Roy Chester Turner Sr., and to this union three sons were born. She enjoyed family gatherings and loved her family dearly, especially Dynesha, her only granddaughter.

Mrs. Turner also united with Union Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully in various auxiliaries. She sang in the choir, served on the Mission Board, and was Vice President of the Usher Board. She served as an usher until her health began to decline. Even then, she remained a strong woman and the backbone of her family. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Turner Sr.; and her sons, Roy C. Turner Jr. and Tony Amess Turner.

Mrs. Cleonia Marie Smith-Turner leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Terrence Lorenzo Turner; granddaughter, Dynesha Elizabeth Cleshay Turner; grandson, Jayden Chase Turner; great-grandson, Domenique Dejohn Robertson; great-granddaughter, Caryah Aubrelle Robertson; sisters, Mrs. Nettie Duckworth, Mrs. Audrey Howard, and Mrs. Annie Jackson; brothers, Mr. James (Carmille) Smith and Mr. Charles (Cynthia) Smith; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Centeno and Mrs. Louise Harris; brothers-in-law, Mr. William Turner Jr. and Mr. Johnny Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
