Edna Mae White was born on Friday, January 10, 1941.  She was the youngest child of the late Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Christine Black.  On Thursday, May 5, 2020, Edna returned home to the Lord, after a beautiful seventy-nine years of long life.

At a young age, Edna took education very seriously.  She picked cotton on dry days and attended school when she couldn’t work in the fields on wet days.  Learning most of her lessons from a rat tan switch, she finished high school and obtained her diploma in May of 1959 at Clow, Arkansas.

Edna had an extraordinary Christian journey of commitment and service to her church and community.  She accepted Christ and was baptized at St. Luke CME Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Anretha M. Walker.

On August 17, 1958, Edna united in Holy Matrimony with her late husband, Major White.  The two were married for a total of forty-four years, and to this union, two beautiful children were born.

She leaves to cherish her memories; Marcus White (Lena) of Washington, Arkansas and Barbara Ann White of Arkadelphia, Arkansas.  From her union with Major, Edna was also blessed with additional children whom she loved dearly.  She would say these are not stepchildren, these are my beautiful and wonderful children too; and they also called her mom.  They are Herman Lee White of Brinkley, Arkansas, Charles White, Anthony White (Carol), Ronald White, Dorothy Gibson, Barbara White, Gwen Smith (Charles) all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Carolyn White of Rock Hill, South Carolina; three aunts, Irilliar Black of Hope, Arkansas, Irene McDonald of San Diego, California and Dorothy Tyus of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister-in-law, Pearlie Banks of Colombia, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Shan Anderson of Texarkana, Arkansas and Lee Major Munn of Odessa, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Iverson Munn, Karie Green, Asia Munn, and Leteir Davis, Jr. (Winky).

She is preceded in death by her husband, Major White; her parents, Eddie and Christine Black; her great granddaughter, Kileia Munn; and sister, Shirley Stewart.

Mrs. White touched the lives of so many people, other than just her family.  Her legacy and teachings will always be remembered as she remains in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be 11am-5pm Friday, May 15 at the funeral home.  Graveside service will be 2:30pm Saturday, May 16, 2020 at St. Luke Cemetery, Ozan, AR.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
