Edna Ruth Stephens

Edna Ruth Stephens, 99, of Gurdon passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023. Mrs. Stephens was born December 11, 1923, to Clarence Brown and Tennie Scott in Clark County, Arkansas. She was a housewife and seamstress. She was an avid gardener, quilter, and loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed spending lots of time with her family. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Gurdon who loved her Lord and church family.

Mrs. Stephens was preceded by her parents; husband of 60 years, Lamont Stephens; son, Sterling Stephens; brother, Paul Brown; two sisters, Mildred Jones and Sarah Stephens.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by two daughters, Regina Collins and Cynthia (James) Gibson; six grandchildren, Christina (Michael) Rhodes, Kaye (Tracey) Hill, Donald (Jen) Dickson, Brad (Molly) Dickson, Tammy (John) Bryant, and Erica (Forrest) Cox; twenty-one great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Bell of Arlington, VA, and Muriel Hasley of Arkadelphia, AR; and many other family and friends.

Visitation is scheduled 12:00-1:30pm Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Gurdon. Graveside Service will follow at 2:00pm at Easley Cemetery in Gurdon, Arkansas, with Bro. Randy Murphy, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes-Gurdon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Easley Cemetery 1022 Sticky Road Gurdon, AR 71743.
