Ervin Nelson, Sr. was born July 15, 1940 to the late McKinley Nelson, Sr. and Della Simpson Nelson, both preceded him in death.  He departed this life March 6, 2020.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, three sons, Donald Ray Nelson of Ozan, AR, Ervin Nelson, Jr. (Aretha), Cedrick (Lavette) Brown, Sr.; one daughter, Wilma (Charles) Jackson of Hope; six sisters, Ethel Rodgers, Lena (Charles) Bobo, Fleshia Williamson, Vanessa Nelson, Yvonne Nelson and Shirlene (Melvin) Jackson; three brothers, James Nelson, Edgar E. (Gladys) McFadden and Darrelle McFadden; special friend, Lendie Lafayette; special sisters-in-law, Flossie Johnson and Eddie Scott; special brother-in-law, Bernie Young.  He also leaves to cherish his memory 5 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; like a brother, Robert Nelson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley Nelson, Sr. and Della Simpson Nelson; his stepmother, Charlene Nelson; his wife, Lubie Nelson; his siblings, McKinley Nelson, Jr., Earl Carrigan, Charles Nelson, Willie C. Nelson, Charles Scott, Cecil Scott, Danny McFadden, Florine Hill, Flossie Stewart and Helen Perry; one grandson, Anthony Thomas, Sr.

Visitation will be 11am-5pm, wake 6-7pm Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, March 14 at Roadside Church of God in Christ.  Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery in Ozan.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
