Mr. Fredrick “Rick” Dale Ivey, 73, of Prescott, Ark., passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, 2024, at The Springs of Hillcrest Nursing Center after an outstandingly courageous battle following a severe stroke that occurred in July of this year. Rick was born in Modesto, Calif., on July 27, 1951, to Mr. Fred Paul Ivey and Mrs. Arleen Florence (Sargent) Ivey. He was a retired Intelligence Officer with the U. S. Air Force, having valiantly served as an Airborne Cryptologic Linguist during the Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991. Specially trained to speak and understand Arabic languages, Rick would monitor enemy radio frequencies and listen closely for their plans and translate them into English so that our military could take appropriate defensive actions. After retiring from the Air Force soon after the Gulf War, Rick entered the Texas Troops-to-Teachers Program and became a high school teacher at Adamson High School, in Dallas, Texas, where he taught for many years. Rick was a Christian man who loved pets and helping others. He leaves behind many friends, neighbors and family members who will all miss him dearly. He had an incredible “can do” attitude and was very good with tools, electric wiring and other home improvements. He will be interred at Harmony Cemetery (Sutton) in Nevada County after a private graveside ceremony.
