An exuberant woman after God's own heart, our beloved has transitioned. Before her transition, Georgia lived an incredibly wonderful and happy life beginning with her primary role as daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Georgia Mae Wheeler, age 90, Hope, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday evening, January 1, 2020, at Heather Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 6, 1929, in Hempstead County, a daughter of the late Paul & Ora Lee Porter.
Georgia was predeceased by her husband, Luegene E. Wheeler; daughter, Bobbie J. Williams; one step-daughter, Mia Wheeler of Nashville, TN; four sisters, Adell Golston, Essie Lacy, Annie Bell Poindexter and Zell Carrigan; and two brothers, Roger Lee Porter, Sr., and Zane Porter.
She was a faithful & dedicated member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, attending religious services and spending time with family & friends.
Georgia is survived by three grandchildren, Rufus Williams of Washington, AR, Clarence Williams (Vickii) of Tollette, AR and Anthony Williams of Little Rock, AR; one son-in-law, Lawrence E. Williams of Washington, AR; two great-grandchildren, Chantaney Williams of Bryant, AR and Ar’monte Williams of Hope, AR; three step-children, Valeria Eason of Chicago, IL, Ray Charles Wheeler of Dublin, GA and Gail Wheeler of Oaklawn, IL; and one sister, Vernice (Lee Vern) Stuart of Lawton, Oklahoma. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Visitation will be 11am-5pm Friday, January 10, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:30 pm Saturday, January 11 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
