James Dean Elia (Jimmy), born November 24, 1959, in Beaumont, Texas, to Joseph and Bernice Elia. James accepted Christ at a young age and held strong Catholic beliefs.
A star athlete in high school, he received the MVP award in football. James was a true jack-of-all-trades, a master carpenter who could build just about anything!
On Friday, June 28, 2024, James passed away with loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bernice Elia; brothers, Joseph Elia Jr. and G. Anthony Elia (Buddy); sister, Toni Houston; and sons, Christopher Elia and Jay Dexter Elia.
James leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: three daughters, Shontta Stevens, Sicorie (Muffin) Elia-Jones (Brandon Jones), and Crystal Shepherd (O'Ryan Shepherd); three sons, James R. Elia (J.R.), James D. Elia (Lil James), and Joshua Elia; four sisters, Donna Elia, Dianne Elia-Pittman, Angela Elia, and Carla Ann Piper; two aunts; three uncles; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
