Johnnie Bell White Swift Young

Mrs. Johnnie Bell White Swift Young was born March 14, 1941 in Ozan, AR to the late Maryland and Julia Hickerson White.  She departed this life on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, AR.

Johnnie attended Childress High School in Nashville, AR.  She later met and married Willie Swift.  They were parents to three children; Anthony Lawrence, Johnnie Faye , Lancie Swift, and helped raise granddaughter Gabrielle.

She began her Christian journey at St. Luke C.M.E. Church in the St. Luke community of Ozan, AR. There, she sang in the choir and was a member of the Usher Board.  Next, she joined Power House C.O.G.I.C in Ozan, AR.  After leaving there, she attended Freedom Temple C.O.G.I.C in Forman, AR, where she worked on the finance board and helped with many fundraisers.  She completed her Christian experience as a member of Williams Memorial C.O.G.I.C. in Nashville, AR.

Johnnie was a Kitchen Supervisor for many years at Bolden Nursing Home in Nashville, AR.  She later went to work at Tyson Foods in Nashville, AR until her health would no longer allow her to work.  She then became an Entrepreneur.  She was a caterer, making the best pound cakes and other foods.  She was a seamstress and was given the title of Uber Driver because she loved to help other people by bringing them to town for their doctor appointments or just to go shopping at the grocery store.  Johnnie was successful in all her endeavors and loved what she did without complaining.

In 2004, Johnnie married Bernie Young and lived happily ever after.

She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Maryland and Julia White; one sister, Verna White Williamson; and one son, Lancie Swift.

Those left to remember her forever:

A devoted and loving Husband, Bernie Young of Nashville, AR; one son, Anthony Lawrence (Renda) Swift; one daughter, Johnnie Faye Swift of Newport, AR; two brothers, Maryland White of Nashville, AR; Kenneth White of Ashdown, AR; four sisters, Virginia (R.D.) Johnson and Polly Madlock of Ozan, AR; Willie Bell Hearon of Nashville, AR; Helen (Clyde) Barbe of Chicago, ILL; three sisters-in-law, Jimmie White of Nashville, AR, Ivie Lee Middleton of Arkadelphia, AR; Katie Richardson of Santa Maria, CA; two brothers-in-law, Jessie Young of Las Vegas, NV; Charlie (Margie) Young of Prescott, AR; one Aunt, Eula Deloney of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be 1-5pm Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 25, 2020 at Williams Memorial C.O.G.I.C, 1210 S. Front St., Nashville, AR.  Burial will be at St. Luke Cemetery in Ozan.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
