Joseph Ocampo

Joseph Ocampo, 74 of Hayward, CA died at Summit Health & Rehab Center in Taylor, AR. He was born on July 22, 1950 to Esperanza and Joseph Ocampo. As a child, Joe loved the annual camping trip to Lake Tahoe with extended family. Joe attended Sunset High School in Hayward, CA where he was on the Varsity Wrestling team. After graduation, Joe enlisted in the Air Force where he served during Vietnam War. Once discharged from the Air Force, Joe moved to Auburn, CA where he managed a home for people with disabilities. Joe then relocated to Moberly, MO where he worked as a prison guard. His journey continued as he moved to Jacksonville, FL where he worked at a bank. In 2014, Joe moved to Gurdon, AR to be close to his sister Linda. He worked at Ouachita Baptist University in the maintenance department until he retired in 2022. Joe was a gentle soul who had a special place in his heart for all animals. He has had many pets over the years. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Esperanza & Joseph Ocampo and his sister, Jo-Anne Mobley and is survived by his sisters Linda Clark and Mary-Jane (Steve) Graham, his nieces and nephews, Gloria Stricklin, Ronnie Mobley, Billy Smith, CJ (Crystal) Stroder, Daniel (Hailey) Stroder, and Erin Graham along with many great nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by his cat, Gray who loved him dearly. Thank you to Summit Heath & Rehab and Enhabit Hospice for the care and kindness given to Joe during his final days. An extra Thank You to Joe’s nieces, Gloria Stricklin and Crystal Stroder for all the love and support you provided to Uncle Joe during his final months. Your love and humor, Joe will always be with us.
