Julia Watkins was born July 18, 1916, in the community of Sutton, Nevada County, Arkansas, to David Edward and Theodicia Bright Evans. She was a
mother and homemaker, the oldest member of Garrett Memorial Baptist
Church (nearing eighty years) and a fifty-year member of the Order of
the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, Guy Watkins,
one daughter, Sandra Jan Watkins, one son, Guy Watkins, Jr., three
brothers, Nolen, James Byron and John Edward Evans and one sister,
Virgie Evans Cunningham Gilbert.
Survivors include one son, David Watkins
(Ileene) of Little Rock; one granddaughter,
Shana Darby (David) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two
grandsons, Trey Watkins (Kim) of Purcellville, Virginia and James David
Watkins (Heather) of Raleigh, NC; four great-grandchildren, Caroline
Briggs, Guy Watkins IV, Alex, Stokes and Riley Watkins; six step-
grandchildren, Dana Demesy, Ashley Moore, Laurie Rowe, Jay Arnold,
Janan Davis, Jill Fletcher; eight step-great-grandchildren, Jill and
Daniele Demesy, Alexandria Rains, Elizabeth, Emmie and Ella Davis,
Allie Arnold, Tyce Fletcher; several nieces and nephews.
In passing, "Mrs. Julia" wished a final and fond
farewell to her many
surviving special friends everywhere; and her friends and residents and
the wonderful staff of Hope Haven Retirement Facility.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00
p.m. on Friday, January 24, at
Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope; a reception will follow
immediately at Herndon-Fuqua. A private burial service for family and
relatives will be held later in the afternoon at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hope.
