Litta Turner

January 7, 1949 - July 28, 2023

Litta Lorraine Powell Turner was born to the late Verdo and Louise Powell, in Hope, AR on January 7th,1949. She made the small town of Hope the center of her beautiful life through her childhood, becoming a Spring Hill graduate, and to being the home where she raised her amazing family. Growing up with four brothers and one sister, Litta saw herself as just one of the boys and held her own at that. Her siblings recalled as a toddler, she would run around outside without wearing a shirt like her brothers. But their Mother would not be far behind, shirt in hand chasing after her.

She was a huge supporter of her community and spent her career days at Champion Parts and Brentwood Industries, Inc. She was widely respected for her hard-working personality and the loyalty and love she had not only for her family, but her friends and co-workers she gained along the way. She married the late Redge Turner of Hope, AR, on June 30th , 1967. Together they created two loving sons, Ray Turner of Conway, AR, married to Jennifer Turner and Marty Turner of Conway, AR. She was an amazing mother that loved with all her heart. She was very proud of the men she raised. She would do anything for her children. Help in any time of need, welcome anyone into her family with open arms, and love harder when they needed to be uplifted. She used cooking as her love language for her children when they would come to visit, making their favorite dishes, desserts, or just having their favorite snacks on hand. Deer season meals she made and sent to camp became a favored tradition between her and her boys.

Her favorite title became “Mamaw” and she was so proud of her grandchildren and the lives that they created for themselves. She could light up a room just talking about them and had the pictures on hand via phone or albums ready to show to prove it. And the addition of a beautiful great-grandson, Baker, made her over the moon with joy.

Litta was a beauty of a woman, inside and out. “When Litta loved someone, she loved with all of her being.” Her sister Claudine recalls when she was getting married, being worried about their mother not having any help in the house anymore with Litta being the last girl. She said, “Litta wasn’t much for keeping a house, but to my surprise, I guess she had been watching me all the time because she learned quick and did a better job than me.”

Litta may have left this world for her heavenly home, but she will be remembered by all who loved her. Her sons Ray Tuner (wife, Jennifer Tuner), Marty Turner. Her grandchildren Peyton Turner Mitchell (Andrew Mitchell), Haley Turner, and Beau. Her Great Grand-child Baker Turner. Her loving siblings, Mack Powell (wife, Sandra Powell), Larry Powell, Claudine Teague (husband, Randy Teague), and Terry Powell. And a laundry list of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that will always remember their Aunt Litta.

A visitation will be held at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home on Monday, July 31 st from 1-2PM with her services directly following at 2:00pm with Bro> Kenneth Bobo officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
