Marguerite Hardwick Tomlin

Marguerite Hardwick Tomlin of Bluff City, passed away peacefully at her home on January 23, 2021. Marguerite was born in Cale, Arkansas to Homer and Exa Hardwick in 1933. She was a devoted Christian and of the Baptist faith. Marguerite was the last living direct descendant of John Mobley and Georgia Hardwick, which were early settlers in the Southwest part of Arkansas. After losing her mother when Marguerite was 13 years old, she was taken in by her Grandmother and Aunt Johnnie and taught the preaching of the gospel, along with the knowledge to carry herself as a true Southern Woman. In March of 1953 she married her lifelong love, James S. Tomlin. The two set out on a journey that lasted for 64 ½ years, demonstrating a true-life love story, while creating a wonderful life for their children. One of the main principles that they firmly believed was always respect nature, their fellow mankind, and to give back to their community. They instilled the value of family, and even at the end of her life, she hoped for unity in her family, and the continued work of taking care of her neighbors and friends.

Marguerite was a former member of the Nevada Co. Fair Association, Council Woman for the city of Bluff City, Member to the Nevada Co. Democratic committee, and a receipt of the Woman of the Year from the Nevada Co Extension Service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James S Tomlin, son John Kevin Tomlin, grandson Nicklaus Tomlin, brother John Thomas Hardwick, and sisters Helen Florene Hardwick and Dorothy Agnes Hardwick.

Marguerite is survived by her children, Mike of Bluff City, Jack of Dallas Texas, Terry and Mikael of Bismarck, and Robert and Kim of Hope, a bonus daughter and son Jeff and Debbie Phillips, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a sister in-law Bonnie Tomlin Lawler, brother in-law Jerry and Judy Tomlin, and Dent and Betty Tomlin, along with a host of nephews and nieces.
