Reflections of His Life

Mr. Vandy Stovall Jr.

Mr. Vandy Stovall Jr. was born on July 11, 1947, to the late Vandy Stovall Sr. and the late Myrtle Hill Stovall in Lake Village, AR, also known as Macon Lake. As a young man, Vandy worked in farmland in his hometown. However, he soon grew tired of that and in 1962, he packed his bags and moved to Nashville, AR, where he met and married Ruthie DeLois Hill. Later on, he embraced Christianity and was baptized at the Dodson Street Church of Christ.

Vandy also spent several years working at a mill in Murfreesboro before attending job corps in New Mexico, where he learned carpentry and plumbing skills. He applied his newfound expertise back in his hometown.

Throughout his years of working in people's homes in Nashville and the surrounding areas, he met many individuals. He found joy in working with his hands and bringing happiness to others.

For over 30 years, he dedicated his service to Weyerhaeuser in Dierks, AR, retiring in 1990 due to declining health. On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, Vandy Stovall Jr. gained his angel wings at the age of 76 in Nashville, AR. He will remain in our hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthie Stovall; father, Vandy Stovall Sr.; mother, Myrtle Hill Stovall; as well as two brothers, Charles Stovall and Lee Edward Stovall.

He is survived by five daughters: Melissa (Steven) Walls of Mineral Springs, AR; Mary Ann Haney of Hope, AR; Melisha Hendrix of Nashville, AR; Melinda Stovall of Nashville, AR; Monica (Jason) Pettus of Mabelvale, AR; siblings Dorothy Smith, Mildred Hill, Roosevelt Stovall, Lloyd Huskey, Maple (Dale) Hughes, JoAnn Arington, and Mae Hawkins; 10 grandkids, a host of great grandkids, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who love him dearly.
