Ramona “Mona” Dee Bonnette, 62, of Benton, AR, entered the presence of her beloved savior on December 17, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
Mona was the darling daughter born to Vernon and Frances Haynes on July 27, 1960. Mona grew up in Prescott, AR where she graduated high school. She went on to achieve a bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University and a master’s degree in speech pathology from the University of Central Arkansas. She served communities throughout southwest Arkansas as a speech/language pathologist working with children of all ages. After moving to Ruston, Louisiana, Mona was selected by the University of Louisiana at Monroe as an instructor in their speech-language pathology program where she mentored her many students and developed lasting friendships with her colleagues like her dear friend, Mary Ann Thomas. She was selected as the Continuing Education Coordinator and president elect of the Louisiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association (LSHA) and coordinated the 2016 Annual LSHA Conference during her final year at ULM.
Mona was creative and artistic. She made countless, incredible birthday cakes for children in her family. She loved music, especially blues with good bass. She could pick up a bass guitar and strum along. She loved travel, the beach, and reading a good book. Taking care of her body was important to her and one of her favorite ways to do this was meeting up with her beloved CrossFit crew each week. Mona believed strongly in edifying the spirit through Bible study and fellowship. She enjoyed sweet friendships developed at two Bible study groups and loved her home church, Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. She also loved the many mission trips with Central Baptist Church she took to Aquismon, Mexico with her husband, parents and sons.
Mona was preceded in death by a son, Quentin Bonnette; father-in-law and mother-in-law Carroll and Shirley Bonnette and grandparents Olen and Ada Mae Haynes and Bill and Rachel O’Rourke.
Mona is survived by her adoring husband of 25 years, Mike Bonnette; sons, Stephan Haynes (Ashly) of Texarkana, AR, Colton Phillips (Samantha) of Fort Worth, TX, Heath Bonnette (Brenda) of Odessa, TX; two brothers Mike Haynes (Phyllis) of Texarkana, AR and Jeff Haynes (Denise) of Hot Springs, AR; nine precious grandchildren Zoee, Zade, Grant, Sam, Tiara, Noelle, Kennedy, Isaiah and Sebastian. She was affectionately called “Bobo” by her nieces and nephews who deeply loved her.
