Harold Wayne Jones, age 79 of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at St. Vincent’s in Little Rock. He was born August 23, 1945, in Beirne, Arkansas to Luther Jones and Susie Anna Smith Jones.

Harold was an ordained minister with the Arkansas District Pentecostal Church of God.  During his pastoral tenure, he pastored at First Pentecostal Church of God in Dumas, First Pentecostal Church of God in Stuttgart, and Cornerstone Pentecostal Church of God in Gurdon.   He worked in the logging woods, driving a log truck, and carpentry before retiring with 25+ years at International Paper Company.  He was a member of the Sticky Road Hunting Club.  He exemplified Colossian 3:23a “and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.  He worked hard whether it was on job or encouraging others.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Sias Jones, his parents Luther and Susie Anna Smith Jones, and siblings, Leola Booy, Marie Dixon, Susie Pearl Wilbourn, Luther Earl Jones, Floy Kusturin, and Horace “Bill” Jones.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Brenda Lee Chambers; two sons, Darrell Wayne Jones (Elizabeth), Harold Dean Jones (Jamie); one brother, James Burse Jones (Ann); four grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Rulo (Terry), Garret Wayne Linzy (Ashtyn), Kaylee Miranda Jones, Austin Ty Jones (Alexis); six great grandchildren, Bentley Ryder Davenport, Emersyn Josephine Price, Carter Ryan Jones, Bryson Kash Jones, Rucker Wayne Linzy, and Austin Krue Jones.

Visitation will be held 1:00pm Saturday, August 31, 2024, until Funeral Service time of 2:00pm at the Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Gurdon. Interment to follow in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon with Rev. Robbie Jansen officiating under the direction of HERNDON-FUQUA FUNERAL HOMES of Gurdon, Arkansas.
