Roger “Shug” Williamson

Mr. Roger “Shug” Williamson, son of the late Roger and Verna (White) Williamson, was born on November 9, 1982 in Texarkana, TX. He was the baby of the three children they raised in their 31 year union. Shug departed this life on Monday, June 15 in Fayetteville, AR.

Shug had a smile that could brighten any room. His warm and authentic personality made each interaction with him feel genuine. He was passionate about delivering his position on any subject, while maintaining his most treasured attribute; “Keeping it Real”.

Shug’s Christian experience included being a member of the St. Luke Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Shug was a devoted family man. He became a father young and committed to raising his children. He married Erica (Branstetter) Williamson on May 21, 2016. They share one son, Kobe.

Shug attended New Tyler Barber college in Little Rock, AR. Upon completion, “Knight Da Barber” began his professional career as a licensed practicing barber at Levelz 2 Barbershop in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was extremely proud to work in the barber profession and placed great importance and pride in his work and relationships with his co-workers and customers.

Shug is preceded in death at birth by brother, Trindell Williamson and sister, Juliet Williamson; his parents, Roger and Verna (White) Williamson.

Shug leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Erica Williamson; four sons, Josh Hernandez, Kesean Williamson, Caleb Williamson, all of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Jakobe Williamson, of Farmington, Arkansas; three daughters, Alicia Cruz, Maliah Williamson, and Deshea Toney, all of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one grandchild, Nova Williamson, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandmother, Dorthy Mae Williamson, of Nashville, Arkansas; special aunt, Polly Madlock of Ozan, Arkansas; two brothers, Jason (Shele) Williamson, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Derrick Williamson, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two brother-in-laws, Canady Lawson DeVault, of Farmington, Arkansas, Garrett Woodward, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Ava Devault, of Farmington, Arkansas; Father-in-law, Doug DeVault; Mother-in-law, Holly DeVault; and a host of aunts,uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, co-workers, and dear friends.

Visitation for Mr. Williamson will be 11am-5pm Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, June 20 at St. Luke CME Church in Ozan.  Mr. Williamson will lie in state 10-11am prior to services.  Burial will be at St. Luke Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
