Mrs. Roslyn Thompson, of Washington, Arkansas, age 69, went home to be with the Lord after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 6, 2023. Born on April 26, 1954, in Herkimer, New York, to Reverend Leigh and Patricia Stephenson. She is preceded in death by her father.
Roz married the love of her life Randy in 1974 after a long engagement. They had a family of three daughters that they raised in New Hampshire. They spent their summers camping together as a family at their favorite places located at Woodstock, New Hampshire, and the ocean in Maine. She was a woman of many talents and gifts. One of the many ways, she showed her love of Jesus Christ to others was through her years as church pianist, organist, choir director, and youth group co-leader. For 20 years she was a medical transcriptionist. She loved to sew, bake, and play the piano, which she taught to her daughters, grandchildren, and others. This passion flowed over into her retirement where she spent majority of her time quilting. Roz and her husband retired to Washington, AR in 2015. She was the president of the Hope Quilters Guild. In 2020 she opened her quilt studio. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, is what brought her the greatest joy. She never missed an opportunity to be with them.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 49 years Randall “Randy” Thompson of Washington, AR, daughters Karolyn Lopez (Frank) of Washington, AR, Jaimie Williams (Josh) of Washington, AR, Kristie Ussery (Peter) of Rogers, AR, mother Patricia Stephenson of Washington, AR, brother Deene Stephenson (Pam) of Penacook, NH, brother Jay Stephenson of Washington, AR, and eleven grandchildren Patrick, Victoria, Charlie, Ethan, Adelaide, Riley, Naomi, Randall, Esther, Nathaniel, and Lydia, along with many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
A “Celebration of Life” service and visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 3pm at Washington Methodist Church in Washington, Arkansas. A private burial with family will be at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Compassion International and Samaritan’s Purse.
