Roy Clifford “Big Daddy” Whatley, 86, of Spring Hill, Arkansas passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Christus St Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

Clifford was born on June 24, 1936 in Hope, Arkansas to Henry Andrew and Lena Mary Stevenson Whatley. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Spring Hill, Arkansas.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry Whatley and James Whatley; two sisters, Marjorie Stone and Sue Gray; and grandson, Brandon “Bruno” Kidd. 

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ophelia Collins Whatley of Spring Hill, AR:  four children, Donna Lemley of Spring Hill, AR; Danny and Teresa Whatley of Spring Hill, AR; Judy and Mark Anderson of Hope, AR; and Terry and Wendi Whatley of Spring Hill, AR; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

The Whatley Family will receive friends from 12:30pm-2:00pm on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Bethany Baptist Church in Spring Hill.  Funeral service will follow immediately after visitation with Bro. Drake Anderson and Bro. Eric Fisher officiating.  Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery (Spring Hill, AR) following the service. Service and burial are under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home, Hope, Arkansas.
