Sarah Nell Nash Muldrow, was born August 18, 1951 to Lucy Mae and Oliver Nash. She was their fifth child. Lucy passed away after giving birth. Due to her death Sarah was welcomed into the home of Mrs. Ola Daly, a family friend. While Sarah lived physically in the home of Mrs. Daly, she was raised by a team, her father and step-mother, after her dad remarried. She was a precious sister to her eleven siblings.
On Friday, June 12, 2020, Sarah Nell Nash Muldrow got her wings and rejoined her heavenly family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Daly, grandparents, three sisters, one brother, one niece and one nephew.
Sarah was educated in the Guernsey, Washington and Hope Public Schools. She was a member of the last graduating class of Yerger High School in 1969. After graduating high school, she attended Henderson State University. She later attended Hope Community College where she received an associate degree in business.
Sarah united in marriage to Chester James Muldrow in June 1975. To this union one child was born, Wendy Nicole. She was a strong woman and a fierce “Mama Bear” whenever Wendy was involved. She was a dedicated Mother first and foremost. She treasured Wendy and embraced each moment with her.
Sarah loved caring for others and children, which was largely why she chose her career path. She worked for the School of Hope for over twenty years. Later, she joined Hope Public Schools System, working for over fifteen years with Special Need students. Helping students was a passion of hers.
It would be wrong to say that Sarah lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. She was determined. When anyone else would have broken, Sarah stayed strong. Her faith was remarkable and we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Sarah. Just because she is no longer her, it doesn’t mean she lost her faith.
Sarah was a devoted member of Garrett Chapel Baptist Church, where she faithfully served for many years involved in different organizations. She enjoyed bible study and sharing her culinary skills, specializing in peach cobbler and corn muffins.
Sarah leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Chester James and a precious daughter, Wendy Nicole of the home; three step-sons, Chester Lee, Wichita, KS; Bonzo, of Minnesota and Chester Wayne (Gina), Little Rock, AR; her siblings, Allie Allmon, St. Louis, MO; Isabell Nash, Raytown, MO; Charles (Rhonda) Nash; Shelia Nash, all of Hope, AR; Oliver (Regina) Nash, Killeen, TX, Annie (George) Parker, Yukon, OK; Ronald (Melissa) Nash, Hutto, TX; five brother-in-law Hayward Finks, Sr. and Harold Gardner of Little Rock, AR; Rev. Johnny (Wendy) Steward, Ashdown, AR and Joe Franklin Steward of Hope, AR; and Elmer Steward of Minnesota. One uncle Herman D. (Marelene) Johnson, Washington, AR; and one aunt Tennie L. Carr, Duncan, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. Special family friends Abraham & Glenda Clark; Carolyn & Stephania Logan; Godmother Ophelia Williams; God-sisters Carolyn, Vera and Virginia Williams; Willie “Dean” Smith Mays; Deris Nash Johnson, Michael Smith, Annie Maxwell, Delmetric Braggs and Norma Chambers.
Visitation will be 11am-5pm, family hour 6-7pm Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside service will be 11am Friday, June 19 at Westmoreland Cemetery in Fulton. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
