In Loving Memory of Shelley Cheridor
Shelley Rykiel McElroy was born on October 31, 1987, to James and Marilyn Shelley McElroy in Nashville, Arkansas. Shelley was a graduate of Nashville High School, Class of 2006. Shelley loved all sports and was known for hitting the softball over the fence. She was a member of the Nashville High School Track & Field team where she threw shot put. In 2005, Shelley qualified for the state tournament, the Arkansas Meet of Champions. She still holds the record for the longest throw in Arkansas. During her lifetime, she accomplished an associate degree in Accounting and certifications as a Dental Assistant, Cosmetologist, and Lash Technician.
Shelley enjoyed life; she loved her children and husband dearly. She was a wonderful provider. She loved cooking and posting pictures of her meals, decorating, traveling, music, dancing, and most of all, her friends. Even though she enjoyed laughing and having fun, she was a dedicated wife and mother who was committed to giving her family the very best life. Shelley had two beautiful girls, Justice and Tatianna, when she met and married Griford Cheridor on June 8, 2015. During their union, they had one daughter, Nahla, and two sons, Jamison and Hadley.
Shelley Cheridor passed away unexpectedly at a young age on October 1, 2025. She was honest and to the point—very straightforward. She didn’t mind telling a person how she really felt. She was fearless and didn’t care how tough the task; she was going to figure out a way to get it done.
Shelley Cheridor is preceded in death by her father, James Otis McElroy Sr., and maternal grandparents, Mae Francis and Otis James McElroy.
She leaves to remember her: mother, Marilyn Shelley-McElroy; husband, Griford Cheridor; three daughters, Justice Moore, Tatianna Johnson, and Nahla Cheridor; two sons, Jamison Cheridor and Hadley Cheridor; one sister, Telisa Shelley; one brother, James McElroy Jr.; six nieces, Kishauna, Njere, Kianna, Mia, A’rhianna, and Zyion; two nephews, Gyasi Benson and Kalonji Benson II; six aunts, Debra Butler, Marie Bacy, Gwendolyn Gale, Linda Shelley, Brenda Williams, and Fannie Shearod; six uncles, Charles McElroy, Anthony McElroy, Melvin Shelley, Elbert Shelley, Billy Shelley, and Cleve Shelley; sister-in-law, Vanessa Nazaire; brother-in-law, James Alphonse; and a host of great-aunts, uncles, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
