Uzziah Grigsby II

Uzziah Grigsby II, born on Saturday, January 29, 1944, in Osceola, AR, was the cherished son of Uzziah Pathus Grigsby I and Janever Burch. A native of Hope, Arkansas, he departed this life on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital in Sugar Land, TX. May he rest in peace.

Uzziah attended Yerger High School in Hope, AR, and continued his education with some college at UC Berkeley. He had an insatiable curiosity and passion for knowledge, finding joy in reading about a myriad of subjects, including chemistry, aeronautics, history, and engineering. Recognized as the family and local historian for Hope, AR, he leaves behind a legacy of preserving and sharing the rich tapestry of his community.

A man of diverse interests and talents, Uzziah found joy in activities such as fishing, hunting, caring for animals, and cultivating his garden with masterful skill. An Obama volunteer, he was socially engaged and devoted his time to community service. A home chef with a generous spirit, Uzziah loved entertaining and brought joy to many through his culinary creations.

Known for his sense of humor, he was a funny and sympathetic soul. Uzziah enjoyed playing chess, boating, and fostering a spiritual connection that brought strength and perseverance to his life. His considerate and strong character left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know him.

Uzziah is survived by his two sons, Dr. Uzziah Grigsby III and Ansel Grigsby; two daughters, Dr. DaeJan Grigsby and Kathryn Grigsby; three grandchildren, Mylah, Camillah, and Gracy; and one brother, Calvin Grigsby.

He was preceded in death by his father, Uzziah Grigsby I; mother, Janever Burch; and sister, Carlotta Grigsby.

In celebration of a life well-lived, Uzziah Grigsby II will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his memory be a lasting source of comfort and inspiration.
