Wanda Prater-Henderson

A Journey of Remembrance
*Wanda Prater-Henderson*

On Thursday, January 6, 1966 a beautiful baby girl named Wanda Jean Prater was born to Joshua Prater Sr. and Melinda Pearl Prater in Hope, Arkansas. Wanda, also known as “Blondie”, joined Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ where she sang in the choir, attended Sunday School, and served on the usher board.

Wanda also attended Hope High School, graduating with the Class of 1984. She would later meet and marry Mr. Watson Kent Henderson, and to this union three beautiful children were born. Wanda worked in Hope, AR at Western Sizzlin, Klipsch Speakers, and Tyson Foods where she retired from. She also served as secretary for the Young Women Christian Council (YWCC) for over 20 years.

Blondie learned how to cook from her beloved grandmother, Rosie Prater. Blondie would feed anyone. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandson, close family, and friends.

At the age of 56, Wanda Prater-Henderson gained her angel wings on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Wadley Regional Medical Hospital in Texarkana, Texas with family by her side. Wanda’s legacy and memories will live on through her loved ones each and every day. As the family would say, “Prater’s don’t die, they just fade away.”

Wanda was preceded in death by: her parents, Joshua Prater Sr. and Melinda Prater; three brothers, Joshua Prater Jr., John Prater, and Joseph Prater; grandparents, Alvin and Rose Prater, and Charlie and Martha Armstrong.
