A Celebration of Life for Willie Vanessa Johnson

Willie Vanessa Hall-Johnson was born on December 8, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas, to Hubert and Beulah Hall. She was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School in Washington, AR, Class of 1966. In June 1967, she married Harris Johnson, and to their union two sons were born—Steven and Eric. Though they later divorced, they remained close friends.

Affectionately known as “Willie V,” she was a beloved family member and friend. Throughout her life, she lived in Los Angeles, CA; Kalamazoo, MI; and Wichita, KS, before returning home to Hope, AR. She was a faithful member of Rising Star Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board for several years.

Willie V. worked diligently at Hudson Foods, Meijer’s Bakery, and Standard Automotive (now Champion Parts). She loved her children and family deeply and had a generous heart for helping others.

At the age of 78, Willie V transitioned to eternal life on September 25, 2025. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Beulah Hall; brothers, Walter Acon, Harvey Hall, and Luther Hall; and sister, Lela Mae Burris.

Willie V. leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Steven (Lalether) Johnson and Eric (Lisa) Johnson; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ulase Hall, Dorothy Phillips, Shelia (Tommie) Law, and Elizabeth Maxwell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
