Reflections of Life for Wilma J. Franks

Wilma Jean Franks was born December 27, 1946 in Fulton, Arkansas to Willie and Georgia Woods. After her mother’s passing, she was raised by her grandparents the late Sidney and Estella Flenory. Wilma accepted Christ at an early age. She also graduated from Lincoln High School in Washington, AR.

Throughout her life she labored many jobs, but Wilma loved working as a private sitter for the elderly. It takes a very special kind of person to be a caregiver, and she was that person. She exhibited patience, dependability, confidence, flexibility, enthusiasm, attentiveness, creativity, and compassion.

When she was not living in Hope, AR enjoying family and friends, she would travel and spend time with her youngest son Dennis throughout his military career. Wilma could light up a room with her conversations. She had a quick wit, and her antics were second to none. She could keep you entertained for hours with stories that would have you laughing for days after hearing them.

She was also a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where Wilma served as the pianist before moving to Grand Blanc, Michigan. Upon her return to Hope, AR, she reunited with Greater St. Luke Baptist Church and faithfully served as one of the musicians until her health began to fail.

Wilma was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 75 on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, with family by her side. She will remain in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Franks; parents, Willie and Georgia Woods; bonus mother, Marjorie Woods; and brothers, Kenneth Woods and Andrew Woods.

Wilma leaves the following loved ones to cherish her memories: one daughter, Carolyn (Gerald) Scott of Hope, AR; two sons, Eric (Wanda) Ware of Dallas, Texas, and Dennis (Sophia) Ware of Kentucky; brothers, Wilbert (Audra) Woods, Sr. of Ferris, TX, Frankie W. Woods and Travis (Sharon) Woods both of Hope, AR, and Terry (Katherine) Woods of Cedar Hill, TX; sisters, Henrietta Polk of Hope, AR and Brenda (Bernard) Munn of Hot Springs, AR; grandsons, Demarcus (Shontay) Thornton and Richard Ware both of Hope, AR, Michael (Tahshara) Bazzelle, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX, Rhyan (Girard) Berry of Phoenix, Arizona, Gabriel (Rachael) Ware of Camden, South Carolina, Jean Marc (Erin) Ware of Birmingham, Alabama, and Christian Moore of Texarkana, TX; six great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Mrs. JoAnn Ross and special cousin, Mrs. Bobbie Franks both of Hope, AR; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
