A pregnant Laneburg woman was transported to the hospital after a head-on crash late Sunday night on Bill Clinton Bypass in Hope.
Colton and Hannah Hathcock, of Laneburg, were heading home from visiting a friend at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night. The two were traveling north on the Bypass at the intersection with Highway 278 East and Henry C. Yerger St. in their Chevrolet Silverado when a southbound Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Madison Powell, of Hope, attempted a left turn and the two vehicles collided head-on, blocking the northbound lane. Powell said she was on her way home from work. She said she had a yellow arrow and thought that truck was stopped when she attempted the left turn onto Highway 278.
Hannah Hathcock, who is about seven months pregnant, was transported by Pafford EMS to Baptist in Arkadelphia for an apparent injury to her ankle or foot. At the time of the crash, she did not appear to have any other injuries. Colton did not appear to be injured and rode to the hospital with his wife. Madison Powell complained of some pain but declined treatment or transport.
Officer with the Hope Police Department investigated the crash and controlled traffic through the scene until Reese’s Towing & Recovery and Blevins Wrecker were able to clear the road of the vehicles.
