Seeking not to be bedeviled by potential rainy weather, the 2018 edition of the Prescott Christmas parade was announced as being rescheduled late Tuesday morning from its original day, this Thursday, Dec. 6, to Monday, Dec. 10, staying at the same start time at 6 p.m.
SWARK Today confirmed the move by phone at 10:30 a.m. with the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.
The theme of the parade will remain the same, “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree” and the scheduled start time at 6 p.m. will also remain the same.
A spokesperson for the Chamber did add a reminder Tuesday that the Christmas Parade’s route will be changed for 2018.
Angel Barlow, administrative assistant for Chamber Director Jamie Hillery, said, “The parade starts at the Senior Citizen’s Center (419 E Main Street) and will go down Main Street, turning left between the two banks (Bank of Delight and Bank of Prescott). It will go in front of the Nevada County Courthouse (215 E 2nd Street) and then go left on E Vine, and end at Prescott Flowers & Gifts (228 E Vine).”
Other traditions of the affair will also remain as churches, local civic groups, businesses and Prescott High school have annually participated in the parade.
Barlow also said that following the parade there will be Christmas caroling and other activities at the traditional Christmas on the Square on the Courthouse steps.
Santa will be making his annual appearance in the Christmas Parade and will be at the Christmas on the Square after the parade to visit with all the children to find out their Christmas wishes. There will also be an opportunity for the children to have their photo made with Santa, according to Barlow.
