Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Rail Spur Project

The Hope-Hempstead Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony this week, November 6, for the recently completed rail spur project in Hope, AR.

Hexion and New Millennium, both benefitting from this rail spur, were present at the ceremony. The project construction started around this time last year in November of 2018.

“I want to give a huge thank you to all the business and individuals who made this happen,” said Mayor Steve Montgomery. “Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District, Hempstead County and Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Hexion, New Millennium and Georgia Pacific have all played key rolls in this project. We now have another ingredient in the pot for more industries to come in and consider doing business here due to the new rail spur. This project completed at a cost of 1.6 million dollars but with the help of the 1.2 million dollar grant received on the rail spur, everything has gone smoothly.”
