Sidney Archie Weems, age 84, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 1st, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Ann Lee Weems, of Gurdon; his sister, Shelia Weems Scott and husband, James, of Hazen; his four sons and one daughter, Gary (late wife, Maxine) Weems of Gurdon, Randy and wife, Tammy, Weems of Arkadelphia; Karen and husband, Larry, Hurley of Norris Lake, Tennessee; Jonathan and wife, Stephanie, Weems of Gurdon; and Mark and wife, Christina, Weems of Arkadelphia, along with ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Archie was a longtime member of Red Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Gurdon and was a Baptist Minister for many of his working years. His tremendous faith and trust in Jesus were evident through his lifetime of ministry, which included serving as Chaplin for the Civil Air Patrol. Archie was a pilot and expert mechanic, able to repair nearly everything with an engine. A natural born innovator, he took great pleasure in his hobby of invention, having developed a tire sealant in the early 1970’s which was used in 18-wheeler and heavy machine tires for years to follow. He loved reading and memorizing the Bible, as well as the Encyclopedia, and had a sharp mind for lifelong learning.
