When many people think of law enforcement, they immediately picture them pulling people over, making arrests, speeding, lights flashing, to an emergency of some kind or directing traffic. But, as we see with programs such as Operation Christmas,Santa Cop and the numerous fundraisers and public outreach programs, many who choose to serve the public in these roles do so out of a desire to keep their communities safe and to help those in need. This is desire that is regularly shared and even tradition among their families in one way or another.
One aspect of this public service that isn’t regularly seen publicly was on display recently as the Arkansas State Police Foundation Spouse’s Auxiliary Troop G adopted a local family for Christmas.
According to Emily Hamilton, on Friday, December 14, the Troop G’s Spouse’s Auxiliary delivered their donations for the family of seven to the Adopt-a-Family at Opportunities, Inc. in Texarkana. The donation consisted of two toddler beds, mattresses and bedding, two dressers, a bicycle, diapers, clothing, shoes and toys for all five children plus household items for the parents. Hamilton said, “Troop G’s Spouse’s Auxiliary would like to give a special thank you to Hardee Electric for assisting with a generous donation and to Savannah Pyler for her thoughtful donation.”
